We're hiring!
Internship for university students, with Tembec

Temiscaming internships

We hire university students to work terms in all of our operations – high-yield pulp, paper, specialty cellulose pulp and chemical products.

Temiscaming is Tembec’s flagship site

Tembec’s Temiscaming site has some 800 employees in our manufacturing facilities – so we have an ongoing need for qualified university students to work as interns, and augment our permanent staff or contribute to special projects.

We generally have from eight to twelve interns working on the Temiscaming site at any one time, so you get to rub shoulders with people from other universities as well as Tembec employees.

Accommodations and supplies

We have reserved two three-bedroom apartments for interns in the town of Temiscaming, a 10-minute drive from the Tembec site. Rent is very reasonable – no more than $300 a month. The apartments are well equipped:

  • Appliances – stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, clothes washer and dryer
  • Towels, plates and dishes, glasses and mugs, cutlery, pots and pans
  • Internet and cable

All you need to do is bring the basics: clothing and personal belongings, bed sheets and blankets, personal hygiene products and any medications, electronic devices and, yes, alarm clock.

We also recommend bringing one week of groceries – the nearest supermarkets are a 45-minute drive away, in North Bay and Ville Marie.

What to expect in your first week

The evening before internship training starts, Tembec Human Resources staffers take our students out to dinner – a chance to get acquainted. The introductory training week emphasizes safety. And get used to it – every Tembec meeting starts with a brief talk about working and living safely. You’ll also get a high-level presentation by the mill manager. In brief, you’ll be part of our team from Day One.

And during each internship term, we organize group activities that give students the flavor of life in our community.

Where are we on the map?
